Review | Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain

The Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stains have a new formula that offers the shine of a lip gloss, the hydration of a lip balm, the wear of a lip stain and the color intensity of a lipstick.

The texture of the Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stains is quite unique. It’s thick, but not sticky. Liquid, but at the same time also creamy. I can really feel the Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stains on my lips, so they’re not exactly what you would call lightweight. But the fact that they’re so heavy isn’t necessarily a bad thing. On the contrary even, I can really tell that the vitamin E and aloe vera in the formula are doing their job and that the stains are nourishing my lips. And since the Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stains don’t feel sticky and don’t smudge or run, the heaviness of the texture really isn’t an issue. At least for me it isn’t.

And the colors? They’re intense! The pigmentation is great and the super glazed finish is nice and even. LA Exclusive is a sparkly Barbie pink shade, Rio Rush is a bold shimmery fuchsia, Barcelona Nights – my favorite – is a glossy bright pink, Shanghai Sizzle is a warm glossy red, Miami Fever is a sunny orange shade, Stockholm Chic is shimmery rust shade and Parisian Passion is a classy bordeaux.

So 10 out of 10 for the Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stains then? Almost. I’d rate them 9 out of 10. The colors are pretty and intensely pigmented with a lovely glazed finish, the longevity – about three hours – is okay too, and the moisturizing ability of the somewhat peculiar formula is quite impressive. But despite what the name says the Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stains don’t really leave a stain. That means no gold, but still a well-deserved silver medal.
